today March 4th, Autumn is officially 18months old...a year and a half. wow. what's even more hard to believe is that next Sunday will be three months since we got her.
AR has been walking around full time for a few weeks now and has on occasion shown little bursts of speed in her walking. She got a big kick (with lots of giggles) in power walking away from mom and/or dad in Target yesterday while we were shopping. At first she didn't want to be put down...she's always rode in the cart or was carried by myself or mom, but soon she was enjoying the fact that she could walk and check stuff out like a big girl. This was fine since she was constantly holding onto one of our hands. Then of course the toddler instinct kicked in and soon one of us would have to grab her as she giggled and sped away from our cart and our hands. Independance is a powerful drug to a toddler. No harm done though as mom and dad, ever-watchful, loved every moment of her excitement in getting to walk around while we kept her close and out of trouble.
She's doing well with day-care...the girls are great there and there are other little friends for her to interact with. They say she's doing pretty well mostly...she of course has moments where she needs to be close by one of the girls, and she still cries when we drop her off. It's just alittle seperation anxiety that is normal and to be expected this early on. They say she calms right down. and she definitely loves seeing mom and dad come pick her up in the afternoons. There's been no "backlash" at home as she loves and eats up every moment with mom and dad by playing, sitting in our laps, and/or just hanging out with us. We even got our first drawing to put up on our refridgerator last Wednesday! (okay it was lots of lines and scribbles but she used many many different colours and seemed to have really worked at it.) I was very impressed and proud.
Autumn's come a long way in the short time she's been with us. Many people have commented to us that she acts like she's been with us the whole time. She's amazed me and continues to amaze me with her personality and her ability to adapt to things. Any way I look at it, whether it's behind that furrowed brow..."that look" she has, whether it's behind those sad crying eyes when things don't go well or her teeth are bothering her, or whether it's behind the goofy playful nature...there's a girl who's got alot of love and dreams to share and she knows that we're mom and dad and we're here to share it all with her. And I don't think I could have asked for the more perfect child for us.
next up...Tuesday the 6th: the 18month check-up and shots! also; some more random photos

So glad to see an update (yeah, you're busy, we know!).
Glad to hear that your toddler is exhibiting classic toddler personality traits...that's what we all want. That baby phase is such a short phase anyway.
You never did say if/how well Amber likes the snow. You guys still have some, right?
tB-
we got Autumn out in the snow briefly a few weeks ago. She wasn't sure what to think but after a few flakes on the face and in the mouth (water! imagine that!) she liked it. It's all but melted away now. we're looking forward to spring and getting out in the yard. :)
hope things are going wonderfully for all of you!
