update 3/7

Autumn's 'eye infection' is (as I forgot to mention yesterday) actually periorbital cellulitis. She has a somewhat mild form...which probably is because we happened to have her at the doctor soon enough. The doctor seems to feel that she'll be fine with just going through her antibiotic cocktail. We have to keep a check on her eye though because if it gets worse it's definitely not a good thing.

Basically this is a bacterial infection of the tissue around the eye. The doctor seems to think it's related to the ear infection which happens to be in the ear on the same side of the infected eye. At this point it's treatable with the Rx and most like won't spread. Untreated however, she could have been at greater risk for it becoming orbital cellulitis which affects the eye itself, the socket, etc. This would've meant some time in the hospital. I have to say that we're definitely relieved that it's not too bad and in fact AR's eye was looking much better this evening. whew. definitely won't let things like that go anymore. We could have easily dismissed it as a bug bite or some type of irritation that she was making worse by rubbing...and the fever attributed to her teething. Had things not gone the way they did it could've been worse.
But...this is how new parents learn things. And so far it's working out okay. AR was already starting to act alittle more like her usual self tonight...and that's definitely a great sign. :)

Yikes! I am glad to hear that AR is doing better. Yikes again!

She is a cutie and I stand by what I said at the White Swan ... she looks like you. Both of you. Something with her features and your features ... call me crazy.

Take care!
