a quick post...

well it's been several busy weekends in a row, so this was a not-so-busy weekend which we enjoyed by relaxing and just hanging around the house for the most part. We went to Party City today and Autumn picked out her Halloween costume. She's going to be a butterfly faerie. She tried the costume on there to make sure it fit and she was just tooooooo adorable. She wants mama and daddy to dress up like Star Wars characters. It's funny because she's never seen the movies and the only time she's really been exposed to Star Wars was the costume catalogue and we pointed out the outfits. We asked her again while we were at the store if we could dress up too and she again said that we should be Star Wars people. We're not however, as daddy likes to dress in scarier costumes, although I might just go for the black robe and hood thing.

Autumn and I are having fun in the Chinese class. This was our third class and we learned a few more words. We created a "Wan An" (good-night) art project which involved a blue paper, yellow stars with gold glitter, and a piece of paper with the word in English, PinYin, and Chinese characters. Autumn is doing a pretty decent job of learning and using the words. She knows what things are but will typically hold back and not speak out the answers very loud. Or, she will play a game of acting like she doesn't know and look at me with her little grin. I definitely enjoy learning the words and phrases and it is helping me get pumped up and wanting to make alittle time to start using the Rosetta Stone program again that I had bought earlier in the year. Autumn loves watching 'Ni Hao, Kai Lan!" alot so between all that I think she's really soaking it in. We've been trying to use the words and phrases we learn when we're at home when we talk so we can practice and really remember them.

We got together with our friends south of town for a dinner and to observe Mid-Autumn Festival. Autumn and Malia had such a great time. There was also the 5yr old daughter of one of their neighbours there to play with them, and her mother really enjoyed watching the three girls playing and having fun. I commented on how much Autumn and Malia seem to just have this natural ability to just get along like they've been friends forever even though in reality we don't get to visit with them but once in awhile. They giggle and start playing and acting up together almost spontaneously. They kind of just look at each other, get these little grins and then away they go. I don't know how that all works, but they just keep us parents laughing and constantly smiling when they get together to play.

Watching the two of them also makes me think more about the possibility (and probability) of a sibling for her.

Silly faces!
